Be involved in the setting up of the Sutton Night Shelter. To be responsible for day to day running of the shelter including:
- managing volunteers
- work closely with venue hosts
- be present at shelter sessions
- being first point of contact with council homeless team
- first point of contact with guests
- liasing with external partners for additional support
- creating a move-on plan with guests
- be responsible for managing resources
- ensure shelter is run in accordance with Shelter code of conduct and Sutton Community Works policies
- to lead the team in prayer each night
- to be able to respond to the whole person including the spiritual aspects
- to signpost to churches and other organisations as appropriate
- to be part of Sutton Community Works staff team for the duration of the project and to contribute to staff prayer times
Sutton Community Works are a Christian Charity - a partnership of 22 different churches across the borough of Sutton. Faith is a key motivator for our projects and for our volunteers who are drawn from the churches. We have seen guests linked in with church communities during and after the shelter.
It is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a Christian
