Job Description

We are looking for someone who is passionate about putting young people at the centre of their support and has the drive to lead staff and to manage a 24/7 supported housing project for young people in Leeds; collaborating closely with seven other projects.

GIPSIL is committed to all aspects of safeguarding. We believe that all children and adults, who are at risk of harm, have the right to be protected from abuse. GIPSIL aims to ensure that all staff and voluntary workers who seek work at GIPSIL and who have access to children and adults are safe to do so.

GIPSIL is a community based organisation providing housing, counselling, advice and support to young and vulnerable people at risk in Leeds.

As an organisation we are committed to the following principles in recruitment to ensure we can effectively achieve our aim of providing equal opportunities and safer recruitment;

  • We recruit for potential, not perfection
  • We are a values based recruiter
  • We value lived experience as a demonstration of capability for a role
  • We only utilise truly “essential” criteria in recruitment
  • We are committed to safer recruitment practice

When we refer to Values we are talking about our organisational Values.

We are a disability confident employer.

These Team Leader roles are part of the Young People’s Support & Accommodation service Our Way Leeds (OWL), delivered by a consortia of service providers. The consortia have GIPSIL as the lead provider alongside Foundation & Turning Lives Around. OWL provides a wide range of interventions to prevent homelessness, four types of supported housing and pre and post-tenancy support schemes for young people & young people leaving care including unaccompanied asylum seeker children. Young people can be single, young families or couples.

These four roles come at a time of growth in our core and cluster provision, increasing from two to four by March 2022. The purpose of the role is to oversee the young person’s  transition to independent living and support the onward journey to a permanent home. Young People we support have often experienced a care environment or disrupted childhoods.
