Job Description

To support clients with medium needs living in our client's accommodation or providing floating support in their own accommodation by preparing them for independent living.

Job tasks

Clients

  • Assessment of clients with the Charity Manager before inviting them to move into the organisation's property
  • Preparing the client licence, ensuring a copy is signed by both parties, then monitoring compliance with the conditions of the licence
  • Co-production with each client of support plans to meet their individual needs.This is likely to include a mix of the following elements:
    • Benefits application and compliance
    • Budgeting/managing money
    • Training/work
    • Domestic chores (cooking, cleaning, washing)
    • Managing paperwork
    • Dealing with health issues, including mental health and addiction
    • Hobbies, interests, social activities
  • Implementation of the support plan, with recording of meetings, agreed actions and client progress in the internal management information system
  • Development and maintenance of positive working relationships with other relevant agencies working with or on behalf of clients
  • Occasional attendance at the organisation's drop-ins

Property

  • Managing minor repairs
  • Monitoring rents & utility payments
  • Liaising with Harrow Council Housing Benefit
  • Liaising with the landlord or lettings agent regarding other repairs
  • Minimising voids by ensuring empty rooms are cleaned/redecorated within days of becoming vacant

Other duties commensurate with the role may be added by negotiation

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of working with homeless and vulnerable people
  • A positive and flexible attitude towards work
  • Ability to listen to clients with patience and understanding
  • Ability to maintain necessary confidentiality
  • Confidence in using IT, especially Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work within a Christian ethos

Desirable

  • Understanding of support available locally, including from other agencies
  • Experience of using digital reporting systems
