Job Description

We are looking to recruit motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Waking Night Teams.

Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness organisation that works in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. It has over 150 staff and 250 volunteers. Its mission is to end local homelessness.

Turning Tides has an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to embark on a new role, initially based at our Lyndhurst Road Project but who will work across our 24 hour services to provide support as needed. These services are Lyndhurst Road, Byron Road and our Recovery Project at Selden Road. All are in Worthing

The Waking Night Teams consists of one or two workers on site each night and they are responsible for providing support and to safeguard our clients, including dealing with emergencies. You will be required to support this work by covering when staff are off or assisting when they are in need of support. You will also have responsibility for maintaining a full and accurate log of events and reporting on incidents and any maintenance issues. The work will be varied and the responsive workers will be a vital link between the 24 hour projects at night.

There will be occasions will you will required to lone work on site, especially when emergency cover is required at a service at short notice. As such you will have the adaptability and confidence to move between residential services to meet the needs of the organisation.

The role will require you to work three or four night shifts per week starting at 10pm and finishing at 8.30am, as part of a 24/7 service, including some weekends. You will have good communication skills and an awareness of the issues that affect homeless individuals. You will be passionate about working for a charity that is striving for communities without homelessness.

You must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage and plan your own workload and meet deadlines and targets is essential. Basic IT Skills and in particular Microsoft Outlook and Excel are a must.
