Job Description

Our client have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Resettlement Worker – Community Services Centre to join their team based in London. You will join them on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,453 per annum (NJC Scale Range 15-19) inc LW + pension and other benefits.

As they emerge from the pandemic, their client has worked hard to review how they deliver services with an important focus on reflecting their learning in how they support the people and communities they work with. Their new service model focuses on prevention, a renewed sense of urgency to end homelessness, collaboration, ambition for the people they work with and advocacy for social justice.

About the Resettlement Worker role:

As their Resettlement Worker, you will provide a warm welcome and safe environment for their clients which is responsive to their needs, ensuring that the initial engagement with their clients is carried out in a positive, helpful manner and are delivered with enthusiasm. You will work with clients to explore solutions and opportunities to resolve their housing situation.

Working closely across the Community Service Centre teams, you will ensure the delivery of the best possible service to their clients and work positively within the community with partner agencies to deliver advice and create resettlement plans within a community outreach environment.

You will work within a No Night Out service model which entails intensive one to one case work to resettle the people they work with into a secure and sustainable accommodation and carry out regular follow up work to ensure tenancies are sustained.

Key responsibilities of their Resettlement Worker will include:

- Conducting thorough, needs led assessments and co-produce informed, accurate and effective Resettlement plan
- Coordinating and facilitating supported resettlement and/or housing advice through case management. This includes accompanying clients to make homelessness applications under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, by presenting their case to the relevant local authority or accompanying clients for supported reconnection
- Working in partnership with their specialist advice services to assist their clients to obtain their welfare, housing, and related rights by employing a detailed knowledge of relevant legislation (eg Housing, social care and immigration)
- Providing appropriate advice and support to enable individuals to improve their health and wellbeing
- Working in partnership with external agencies, using a multi-disciplinary team approach, to achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients
- Assessing factors which could impact on the safety of clients or colleagues, and to develop a management plan with the client and other services delivering relevant support, communicating these plans in line with organisational requirements

Their ideal Resettlement Worker will have the following experience and knowledge which will need to be demonstrated on the application form:

Experience

- Experience of applying a customer focused approach to all areas of work
- Experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments to assess support needs and interventions required
- Experience of providing resettlement support to individuals who have experienced homelessness
- Experience of working within a team and developing strong and effective relationships with others to achieve organisational aims and objectives
- Experience of accurate and effective record keeping using case management databases
- Experience of building and developing effective relationships to support vulnerable, disadvantaged or socially excluded groups
- Experience of collaborative working across multi-disciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for an individual

Knowledge

- Knowledge of working within a psychologically informed framework to support vulnerable individuals
- Knowledge of welfare rights and entitlements and how they impact on their client group
- Knowledge of Homelessness Reduction Act and how this applies to local authorities and accessing housing
- An understanding of the issues involved in resettling clients and the benefits and challenges of reconnection
