If you believe that the arts can positively transform individuals and communities; you have experience producing participatory projects and live performances, and you are based in or around Manchester, this could be the career opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
We are looking for a self-starter with excellent networks within local and regional artistic communities, to become our Manchester Programme Producer. As such, you will produce multidisciplinary creative arts projects and performances, work to reduce barriers to creative engagement, and build new relationships with arts organisations and homeless partners.
You will be joining Streetwise Opera, an award-winning performing arts charity that, since 2002, has inspired and empowered people affected by homelessness through singing and creativity. We are an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation, we were recognised as one of the Big Issue’s Top 100 Changemakers 2020, and we’ve been described by The New York Times as “combining social purpose with serious artistic endeavour”.
Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a range of joined-up approaches to solve. Frontline services are vital, however people need more than a bed and a roof to recover from homelessness; they need to feel that they are seen and heard, and they need to know that they have a legitimate place in society. That’s why we work closely with partners in the homeless sector to enable Streetwise Opera participants to build confidence and skills and become part of a supportive and creative community.
You will collaborate with world-class artists to create critically acclaimed and exciting new operas that challenge and change the perception of homelessness, and your work will have a tangible social impact, as participants in our workshops and performances rebuild their self-esteem, boost their wellbeing and overcome social isolation.
As our representative in Manchester, you will manage support workers and volunteers, as well as liaise with Streetwise Opera staff in other regions. This varied and rewarding role will be at the heart of Streetwise Opera’s work, and you will get to witness the tangible impact of your contribution to a charity that inspires and empowers people affected by homelessness.
As an employer, Streetwise Opera offers a wide range of benefits including professional development and training opportunities, including time off for volunteering, and season ticket loans. You will be joining a friendly, committed and supportive staff team and have the opportunity to make a real difference to our ambitious and life-changing work.
