We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Service and Support to join the organisation to lead on the Criminal Justice and Complex Social and Health Needs division across England and Wales! We are looking for a passionate, visionary leader who can drive strategic direction, empower others, and ensure effective service delivery across your areas!

As a Director of Service and Support, you will continuously enhance the quality and best practices of our services, supporting individuals who face a wide array of social and health challenges, and are in the criminal justice setting. 

Inclusivity is fundamental to our operations, and ensuring this principle is integrated into all aspects of our work is a top priority. In this role, you will work in partnership with the wider leadership team of the Social Interest Group to develop and execute the Group's strategic and business plans. You will report directly to the CEO and the Board of Trustees, providing insights and updates on our progress. This position has a particular focus on criminal justice and complex needs, including residential accommodation support, complex care services, prison work, and community-based services. You will play a critical role in the development of service interventions, activities, and programs across the Group.

Shift Pattern/Working Locations: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at our head office in Islington but with regular travel across our services across England and Wales. Hybrid working is also possible alongside regular service visits.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Leadership

  • Centre the needs of residents, participants, and staff in all activities and decisions.
  • Stay informed about the operational environment to keep services strategically relevant and address emerging needs and gaps.
  • Make timely, significant decisions independently to ensure safe and effective operational delivery, driving necessary changes and improvements.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders for contract management and service enhancement.

Operational Leadership

  • Apply business acumen in setting and negotiating financial requirements with external commissioners.
  • Ensure all services operate within budget, with Heads of Services and Housing Support meeting their financial targets.

Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management

  • Lead and collaborate with relevant departments to ensure services are contractually, statutorily, and legally compliant through regular self-assessments and audits.
  • Work with the External Affairs and Impact team to establish and analyze operational dashboards and reporting mechanisms, ensuring organizational impact and financial health.

Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Direct and oversee relationships with commissioners and funders.
  • Identify and achieve organic growth in partnership with the Development and Grants team and Heads of Service.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity

  • Ensure consistent and effective implementation of the Social Interest Group’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity policy and procedures.
  • Partner with the Group’s Equality Performance Manager to embed inclusivity in service delivery and staff support.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.
